About Me
I'm a Chicago-area writer and editor specializing in the spaces where sustainability, business and technology meet.
For years, I followed the corporate sustainability movement as managing editor, and later freelance reporter, for GreenBiz (now Trellis).
Reporting from San Francisco, Saigon and Black Rock City, I tracked "green" technology and culture for CBS Interactive/CNET.
I've also reported from Brussels and Washington, D.C. Other bylines include Civil Eats, PCWorld, The Associated Press and Mother Jones.
In 2025, I edited the book "Navigating Sustainable Growth: A Roadmap for Boards and Corporate Leaders" by Gib Hedstrom.
I've written features for Northwestern, Stanford and Rollins College, too.
I hold a master's in journalism from the Medill School at Northwestern University and a bachelor's in English from the University of Iowa.
To pay forward what the former Chicago teen newspaper New Expression offered me, I co-lead the Tiger Times, written by local elementary students.
I grew up in Chicago with a family that loves ephemera and antiques.
